First of all, Congrats to Whit, who got 2nd place at Telluride, as well as 5th in Crested Butte this last weekend! Great job WHIT!

BIG NEWS!! Fortitude Skis will be moving to a larger facility at the end of the month!!! The location is in close proximity to the old one, however we will have almost twice as much space! I will start snapping and posting pictures of the new place as soon as possible. As odd as it sounds, I am super stoked to get the new shop organized and set up. In the meantime, we are just packing up boxes and figuring out how to move all of our large, heavy, and bulky equipment.

Oh, and clouds---thanks for the snow this last weekend.

Saturday, February 6, 2010

Hey skiers! Kate here.

First of all, Congrats to Whit who got 1st place on Day 1 of the Freeskiing World Tour in Telluride, CO. We'll see how today goes, and hopefully Whit Boucher and Fortitude Skis will have a podium. WAY TO GO WHIT!

The SIA Snow Show has finally wound down and we had a tremendous amount of positive feedback. To see pictures of the 2010/2011 line, go check out Newschoolers.com under day 2 of SIA. Also, keep an eye on the website as I will be putting clips of the new line up as well. At the Snow Show, we debuted our reverse camber ski, called the Krumholtz as well as our ladies ski, the Rosies.

After the Snow Show, we packed and headed up to Winter Park for the on-snow demo. We were shivering a bit the first day (especially Whistler-dog) but ALAS people love the skis. All in all, our skis are known for being on the stiffer side. We had a few requests for softer skis, so we will be developing those in the next little bit to add to our already outstanding line-up.

Next on the list.....! Nick, Mitch, and our dear friend Jimmy will be making the voyage to Snowbasin, UT later this eve to attend the On-Snow demo there on February 9-10. So if you are in the area, make sure to stop by the blue tent with the ducktape sign--oh and the sweet skis.

As for myself, I am working on some awesome custom graphics for Selkirk Tangiers based out of Revelstoke, BC. I will be continuously adding to our arsenal of graphics as well--so keep and eye out for those.

THANK YOUS GO OUT TO: Joe Rabaglia, Adam Quandt, Brad Holden, Big Nick, Giff, Ben Johnson, Sean @ Montana (saved us-no doubt), Jimmy Donahue, Mitch Kortus, and everyone who has done time at Fortitude.

The new Krumholtz & Rosies plus revamped Yeti's

Hello friends,

Trial and error has come to fruition in the new Krumholtz, our reverse camber ski. We just pressed the first pair of the new models last night and damn do they look fresh. Our first attempts yielded a stiffness that not even Andre the Giant could flex. So, we shimmied the ski further up on the mold and voila, we got that banana-shape we were looking for. Very nice! Our new women's model, the Rosies is looking good too. Ladies, if you enjoy the Volkl Gotama, you'd probably dig the Rosies. It's a superb all-mountain ski, with enough early rise in the tip to keep you afloat in blower pow.

The Yeti's, our big-mountain skis, are not only looking tight aesthetically—huge abominable snowman face roaring "FORTITUDE!", but structural tweaks have resulted in an even more solid ski. We've added more early rise to the Yeti's for extra floatation.

All of our graphics have been revamped this season, we think you'll be pleased. We are stoked on what our graphic designer, Katie Hendrickson, has done this season. Props, Katie! Pics to come ASAP!

Now, it's hammer-time in the shop as we gear up for SIA in Denver!

Peace.

Tried and True Fortitude Toughness

For those of you that didn't see this last season, check out Team Member Whit Boucher's near fatal Rodeo Five at Snowmass Freeride Competition:

Here's two versions of it, so you can get the crowd's reaction.

Not a scratch on Boucher, or his Yeti's. If that doesn't prove that we've created a quality ski, we don't know what will.

Expect great things from the Fortitude Team this year throughout the Subaru Freeskiing World Tour.

So, some time had passed since our last post, and a lot has happened. Big mountain competitions have started, what better way to test Fortitude toughness. Abbott Smith has just taken second place in the Taos Freeride Competiton, Fortitude's first podium (pictures and vids, coming soon)!! Congrats Abbott! We've got three models ready for orders: Yeti, Lincolns and Delirium. Powder hounds stay tuned for our reverse camber ski, the Krumholtz. Ladies, Nick's little sister designed and perfected a women's all-mountain ski. We've got two graphic options, a cherry red Old Mill's pinup girl and whatever some pro ladyfriends come up with. We'll keep you posted. We hope your seasons have been going well and look forward to seeing you guys out there!

First day of skiing at A-Basin was superb, new skis tested and worked great. Mr. Ryan Kane ski tester extraordinaire had this to say: http://tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=136563

I think he was right on the money! See you on the slopes!

I thought we'd throw some pictures from the shop (and others) up.

Here we have Nick cutting excess off the ski,
after pressing.

The press, in all its green glory.

Nick demonstrating his love affair with surfing.
Don't tell the skis, they might get upset.

Oh, and by the way, the freshness is spreading.
